We invite you to submit a very short response, using the attached form, to give us an indication of your level of interest in this project.
This step will be followed by a Request for Proposal which will be issued in the next couple of months. It is at that stage that you would submit a more detailed proposal of your nano commercialization project. The RFP provides an opportunity to compete for awards totaling $1,200,000, in aggregate. We expect awards will be made by late March of 2007.
Please note that the legislation which created this funding is primarily focused on commercialization of nanotechnology for new products and improvement of existing products and processes. We expect that one of the requirements, for a proposal to be considered for award, will be that at least one member of a proposing team be a manufacturer and/or commercial entity (e.g. a start-up, small, or large company). For those researchers that don’t have a company partner at this time, state this on your response to see if we can help in suggesting potential partners. For those companies that don’t have a nano company or nano researcher at this time, state this on your response to see if we can help you find potential partners.
This stage gives us an idea of the level of interest from companies. We are hopeful that this gives you a head start in preparing your proposal for the next stage. However, you are not required to submit this White Paper in order to be eligible to respond to the next stage, which is a response to the RFP. Your submission should be submitted electronically with the information in the format of the following outline; also, mail a printed copy. The deadline for receipt of a submission in our office is 5:00 p.m., October 30, 2006.
We are offering two “Introduction to Nanotechnology Commercialization” sessions for those who might want some very basic orientation to nano technology. The Oklahoma City session will be Thursday, October 19 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. It will be at the State Chamber, 330 NE 10th Street. Call Nancy at 405 235 3669 if you plan on attending.
The Tulsa session will be Wednesday, October 25 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. at OSU Tulsa in the North Building. Call 918 592 0722 if you plan on attending. You are not required to attend either session to submit—these are basic orientation sessions.
